The countdown has begun! I am on my way to New York City, with my show opening on Thursday, Feb 21st. I'll be in a little basement theater called UNDER St Marks. A small, low-budget show in the heart of the city that is also home to massive, special effects crazy shows like Spider Man and The Lion King. I admit I don't know exactly what to expect. Does NYC have an audience for a show like iMime? Will this experience impact my vision and aspirations or will I return saying, “Well, that was interesting. Moving on…”
Mainly I expect to meet a lot of great people and learn a little more about how to perform and produce a traveling, one-woman show. For a mime show, I sure seem to have a lot of stuff to haul with me. But it all fits in a single checked bag without being overweight or oversized, so I consider that pretty darn portable. I may or may not retain that opinion by the time I reach my aunt and uncle's apartment in Manhattan.
So far, I've made it all the way to the airport without suddenly realizing I forgot something, which is nothing short of a miracle. Hopefully that will be a continuing trend for the trip. Tune in for updates on all the excitement!
